Schlangenbrot

Ingredients

  • 2.5 cups flour
  • 1.5 tsp salt

  • 1 cup luke warm water (about 2.5 dl)
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil

  • 1 package of active dry yeast (about 2.5 tsp)
  • 1/2 tsp sugar

Instructions

  1. In large bowl, mix flour and salt.
  2. In medium bowl, mix warm water with olive oil and add yeast and sugar. Let sit 5 mins.
  3. Then add wet ingredients to dry and mix.
  4. When dough has pulled together, knead in bowl or on a flat lightly floured surface for 5-10 minutes.
  5. Place dough back in bowl and cover with warm damp cloth. Let rise for 1.5 to 2 hours.
  6. Roll dough out into several long strips about 1/2 inch thick by 12 inches long.
  7. Wrap dough around sticks and cook over an open fire.
