Bagels

Ingredients

  • 2 cups unbleached all purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1.5 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 cups non-fat Greek yogurt

  • To brush over dough: 1 egg yolk + 1 Tbsp of whole milk
  • Optional toppings: everything bagel seasoning, sesame seeds, poppy seeds, dried garlic flakes, dried onion flakes

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl combine the flour, baking powder and salt and whisk well.
  2. Add the yogurt and mix with a fork or spatula until well combined, it will look like small crumbles.
  3. Knead the dough about 15 mins until dough is tacky, but not sticky.
  4. Divide into 6 equal balls. Roll each ball into 3/4-inch thick ropes and join the ends to form bagels.
  5. Top with egg wash and sprinkle both sides with seasoning of your choice.
  6. Bake on the top rack of the oven for 25 minutes in preheated oven (375F).
  7. After baking, let cool at least 15 minutes before cutting.
